ASPARAGUS AND ITS BENEFITS

TO LOSE WEIGHT

Have I already told you that I love asparagus? They are delicious, with them we can prepare a lot of recipes and the best thing is that asparagus are composed of water and fiber and their caloric content is very low, which makes them an excellent food to include in our diet when we are trying to lose weight and start a training routine. If you want to know more about this wonderful plant, I invite you to continue reading so that you can learn more about its main benefits.

Let’s start with the fact that thanks to its high water content, asparagus works as an excellent natural diuretic that helps us to get rid of toxins and waste from our body, this in turn prevents fluid retention and problems with hypertension.

Its low caloric content is one of its main attractions when trying to lose weight, it also contain a good dose of fiber and protein, vital nutrients to improve our intestinal health, prevent constipation and reduce cholesterol.

Asparagus are also an excellent source of vitamins that promote our circulation, the health of our skin and also our eyes, in this super-food we will find beta-carotene, vitamin B1, B2, B3 and B6, vitamin C and vitamin E, all essential to strengthen our body and improve our performance in the gym, in addition, some have antioxidant properties that will help us prevent the premature effects of aging. And let’s not forget about vitamin K, which is super beneficial for our bones, thanks to this vitamin it’s possible to improve our bone density and our calcium absorption to prevent osteoporosis and above all to reduce the risk of fractures and injuries when exercising.

Our muscles are also favored with the intake of asparagus, since they also provide iron, zinc, magnesium and potassium, minerals that favor the growth of muscle mass and also help us to recover much faster after a strong session of training.

As a plus, we can mention that these vegetables have a chemical compound called glutathione, this component is responsible for detoxifying the body and fighting the carcinogenic agents of the body, so including asparagus in our diet gives us a small extra protection against cancer. Not bad, right?

In general, asparagus are excellent to improve our health, our physical performance and also facilitate a bit our slimming plan. Remember that there are purple, white and green asparagus, when you go to buy them, I recommend that you choose those with the dry stem, avoiding those that look a bit withered and soft. If you want to keep them fresh for longer, try wrapping the ends with absorbent paper, placing them in a glass container and storing them in the refrigerator.

Don’t forget that there are hundreds of recipes that you can prepare in the comfort of your home and if you want to take advantage of all the properties of this food, I recommend that you accompany it with a good training routine and a hypocaloric diet.
